چکیده
A novel optical fiber having its cladding doped with Au nano-particles was developed by modified chemical vapor deposition process. Absorption peaks of the optical fiber preform and the fiber appearing at 585 nm and 428 nm, respectively were due to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of the incorporated Au nano-particles in the cladding. The measured peak wavelength of the SPR was found to increase from 480.9 nm to 505.5 nm with refractive index (n) from 1.406 to 1.436 and the SPR sensitivity was estimated to be 820

Fabrication and Characterization of the Fiber Optical Taper for a Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor
For a fiber optical surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor a short part of its cladding should be removed to coat a thin layer of a metal. Usually this is problematic when an optical fiber with small core diameter is used. In this paper, a new method using µliter droplet of the HF acid for short fiber optical taper fabrication is reported. Using this method in a multi-mode optical fiber w...

In this paper, the temperature dependence on optical absorption cross section of the core shell bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) is investigated in quasi static approximation. Temperature dependence of the plasmon resonance is important issue because of recent applications of NPs of noble metal for heat treating of cancer and the computer chips. The effect of temperature on surface plasmon resona...

Nowadays, hydrogen has attracted significant attention as a next generation clean energy source. Hydrogen is highly flammable, so detection of hydrogen gas is required. Gold nanoparticle based localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is an advanced and powerful sensing technique, which is well known for its high sensitivity to surrounding refractive index change in the local environment. We p...
متن کاملNovel Concept of Multi-channel Fiber Optic Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensor
A novel multi-channel fiber optic surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is reported. The sensing structure consists of a single-mode optical fiber, covered with a thin gold layer, which supports a surface plasmon (SP) and a Bragg grating. The Bragg grating induces coupling between the forward-propagating fundamental core mode and the back-propagating SP-cladding mode. As the SP-cladding modes ...
